There are a number of great choices for firepot fuels today. How do you decide which one is right for you? The first thing you need to do is measure the diameter of the stainless steel or ceramic fuel cup that came with your firepot or flamepot. Most are 2.5 inches in diameter but some are only 2.0 inches in diameter and some of the larger ones from Real Flame or the Pacific Décor Longfire firepots have a 3.65” diameter fuel cup.
These Bio-Fuels are liquids (not gels like the previous bottled fuels) that come in bottles and utilize a “Wick” or “Media” that you place into your fuel cup and then pour in the fuel. The “Wick or Media” absorbs the fuel which will not burn unless it is in contact with the “Wick or Media”. The “Wick or Media” is not consumed or burned up and can be used over and over again. They work great and give you a very nice flame. They do NOT come in a Citronella version for bug control.
IF YOUR FIREPOT HAS A STANDARD 2.5 INCH DIAMETER FUEL CUP, you can use the liquid bio-fuels Or you can choose: Pacific Decor's Single Use Cans have the same fuel gel that used to be available in bottles. You use your existing 2.5 inch firepot fuel cup to hold each can. Burn one up and then drop in another one and off you go... Windflame's fuel system uses a liquid bio-fuel and a fiberglass wick to produce a long lasting 6 to 8 inch flame. PureFire comes in Regular and Citronella formulas.
Bird Brain's Solid Fuel Gel is no longer available. Choose any of the other fuels above. If your BirdBrain firepot did NOT come with a FUEL CUP, you will need to purchase a fuel cup in order to use any of the available fuels above. IF YOUR FIREPOT HAS A 3.65 INCH DIAMETER FUEL CUP you can choose the liquid bio-fuels from PatioLite or Organica shown above or you can choose the larger single use cans of fuel gel from: All the larger cans of Single Use Fuel Gel are 3.75 inches in diameter and 2.25 to 4 inches tall. They provide a bigger flame due to the larger diameter.
IF YOU HAVE A WINDFLAME 700 SERIES FIREPOT that uses Outdoor Candles or Real Flame Junior Cans you can select either: |
