Chain Movement Grandfather Clocks by Ridgeway ($1100 - $1600)

Ridgeway Clocks use quality German movements imported from the famous Black Forest region. These top quality brass movements have a two year warranty. The two basic styles are Chain Wound and Cable Wound.

Chain wound – movements are wound by pulling the chains to raise the weights.

Cable wound – movements are wound with a crank that fits into the winding arbors on the face of the clock. This type of movement has become more popular recently because there is no need to touch the weights when winding. An automatic stop prevents over winding.

Chain wound movements are less expensive than Cable wound movements.
